[Elfsea] Events, What do you like

Just my two cents on events, etc. I can help with things during events
such as gate, waterbearing, children's activities, etc. but setup
and takedown are difficult for me because I broke my leg last summer. Also
we have the 8 year old girls and there's nothing to do with them during such
times. So discounts would not be an incentive for us on that until the girls are
a little older and can help as well. We are looking for events that we can
get to within 90 miles or less too because of gas prices and travel time
with kids. We don't have carpool space when we are camping; our van is
pretty full. I'm not a light packer and, again, KIDS. There's a lot of stuff I
probably wouldn't bring if I didn't have them to consider. My priorities are
similar to Mistress Stella's on sites. Electiciy it useful because we have a
plug in cooler and medication that is supposed to be kept refrigerated or
cool, and easy access to drinkable water is also useful. Shade is usually
a big priority too; the other stuff not so much. I'm probably not going
to use one of those camp showers unless I'm desperate, but a place
to wash my face and brush my teeth is always nice. I know we aren't supposed
to have cars near our tents but it helped a lot to have our van behind
our tent at Springfaire as a windbreak! We are more likely to go to events
where there are children's activities or something that the kids can
do if they get bored (like the aquarium at 12th Night),
or where we know that other children will
definitely be there. The 12th Night site was great but that's the MAX
I would drive for a daytrip and I'd rather not drive home so far at night.
