The Fort Worth City Council is considering cutting the Arts Council of Fort Worth funding out of next year's budget. This money is vital to arts programs in Tarrant County and the cut may be long lasting please copy and send the following letter to the council members to save this funding. The members want and need to hear your support.

This brief message is to ask that you consider options more equitable than a 100% funding decrease for the Arts Council of Fort Worth, its programs and its many beneficiaries. 
 

Through its programs (subgranting, public art, facility management, advocacy and education), the Arts Council reflects the community’s diverse support of the arts in Fort Worth. Its work does not end at its own door; rather, its work touches hundreds of residents’ lives every day.

A proportional cut in funding - for the arts and across the board, for all City departments and fund recipients - would be fair and much more manageable.  A proportional cut in funding for the arts would be, in fact, more survivable in the short- and long-term.   
 

As long as Fort Worth calls itself a city of “cowboys and culture”, it needs to respect and financially support the contributions of the arts organizations that make it possible. 
 

Preparing a budget of this size is no easy task, and I realize difficult choices need to be considered.  Thank you for your diligence.  Your commitment to serve the residents of Fort Worth is appreciated.
