Greetings, Elfsea.

Please note the attached follow-up notes from our populace meeting last
night. Thanks to all those who were able to attend, and of course special
thanks to Lady Eleanor for taking the notes. Hope to see each of you at
Defender this weekend!

In Service,
Lady Aoife Ruadh inghean Ragnaill
Seneschal, Barony of Elfsea

**********

*Barony of Elfsea Populace Meeting Follow-up Notes: March 28, 2016*

*Meeting Opened at 7:08pm with words from Baron William and Baroness
Cassandra.*

   -

There is a really impressive list of artisan and service offers to fill
the championship baskets. A lot of talented people stepped forward and
offered skills, foods, items, services. *If you want to participate and
provide options for prize baskets, act now. She will be making the final
list within the next few days. *
   -

Award recommendations: Keep them coming! A lot of good items for
Defender, but even if not in time for this event, there is Guardian of the
   Tor.
   -

Reminder from the Chronicler, who could not be with us, that March 28th
at midnight is the deadline for items to be submitted to the Tidings
newsletter. Lots of good things that happened at GW, A&S work weekends,
lots to be thankful for in this barony, it’s been a really busy month

*Newcomers were called forth and welcomed. *

   -

Welcome, Lady Eleanor (another Eleanor, whose last name we will find
   out!)

*Special Recognition for participants of Gulf War 25 and Elfsea Warrior
beads were provided.*

   -

Special beads were prepared and given for everyone who attended GW25
   -

Those who competed for the barony or provided service were given warrior
beads. Baroness Cassandra explained for the newcomers that the pin is
given on the first bead award and added to with each successive bead. Show
   your Elfsea pride!
   -

Vivat! To all who provided service and worked for the barony!

*The Seneschal was summoned to provide updates on Barony Business.*

   -

Lady Aoife requested a show of hands on the number of people who
received the officer notes via email.
   -

She then requested a show of hands for the people who received
      corrected copies #1 and #2.
      -

She then stated that she succeeded in her one Monday goal of making
      typographical errors of great magnitude.
      -

Correct printed copies were available for any attendee.
      -

An update was provided on the main two information topics from the
   officers meeting on 3/21/16.
   -

Our 2016 Baronial College is now October 1, 2016. It is not a PED
and so the successor in the Seneschal office will need to remember that
each April, the Barony must officially request the first Saturday in
October for the following year. Lady Aoife will take care of the request
for October 2017. This was necessary so that we could have a comfortable
space between our two large baronial events.
      -

At the 3/21/16 Officers Meeting, a vote was taken for the elected
Finance Committee members (position 4, Officer Representative,
and Position
      5, At-Large Representative).
      -

Position 5 will be assigned to Lady Eleanor of Fourth Castle.
         -

Position 4 will be re-voted at the April 18th Officer Meeting
because there was a tie between the two Officer Nominees:
Milady Johanna
and Master Caelin. *Note: Per financial policy, voting can only
occur at a scheduled officers meeting.*

   -

Lady Aoife Listed the currently open positions available and talked
about the fact that Elfsea has gone thru a period of having a full officer
slate for nearly a year and a half-- and is now in natural transition. She
stated this is a sign of health, but to stay strong, the baronial officers
needs to be refreshed with new people, ideas, and skills.
   -

Exchequer position is filled and open but closes on the 31st,
      currently one application
      -

Knight Marshal position is filled but open. We want to find a
replacement in a timely manner so we don’t inadvertently do to
him what we
did to Don Andreas… the two year interim role.
      -

Archery Marshal is filled but open.
      -

Naut. Pursuivant is filled by an interim, but open.
      -

Web Minister is filled but open, with one application.
      -

Chamberlain position is filled but open—and this is a great one for a
newer person to dip their toe in the water.
      -

Lady Aoife announced and welcomed Lady Aine inghen Aodh mic Sheafread
   as the newest Deputy Seneschal.
   -

Two Officers were called upon to deliver updates on their areas:
   -

Lady Cecilia of Kent, Interim Nautilus Pursuivant, spoke as the head
of the Scribal Guild and gave an update on the work the guild
is doing to
create scrolls for local and kingdom efforts. She stated that the guild
needed to grow and that Elfsea held a unique distinction as being one of
very few baronies to give original work for scrolls/awards. She is
preparing to post schedule for heraldry meetings for April – June. Come
see her if you have any need for heraldry assistance
(name/device/badge).
She currently cannot access the NP email, but is working with Central to
get that access. She will help you regardless--- so come see her.
      -

Lady Kaz, Historian, stated that there is a lot going on this year.
She is collecting items that relate to Elfsea history, give her
items that
contribute to our history and she also reviews Caelin’s photos.
      -

Lady Aoife gave an update from Rapier with information from the Officers
   Meeting:
   -

Duchess Antigone (Rapier Marshal) is creating a competition during
April: “Bring a Friend to Rapier”
      -

You get a point if you bring someone new and a point for any time
they show up at practice in April. Person with most points
gets a prize.
         -

A follow-up contest is called “Convert Someone to Rapier”. This
means you get points for stealing people from other disciplines to try
         rapier.
         -

Last Rapier Practice of each month will be a 7p-8p Class. Don
Andreas taught the February Class and Lord Alain from Steppes
will teach
the March 30th class. Lady Aoife mentioned that the name of the
class is long, but it translates loosely to: *How to stab your
         opponent and avoid being stabbed*.
         -

Lady Aoife closed old business and requested new business items from the
   populace. There was none.
   -

The Elfsea Defender Autocrats (Lady Aine and Lady Liadan) were
      requested to give an update:
      -

Lady Aine was in attendance and stated that 7pm, Thursday, March 31
st is the official load-out She needs able bodies to help load
the truck. The Storage unit is located at 2377 E Loop 820 S.
         -

She needs a coordinator for water bearing. If you know anyone who
could man the water bearing duties, let her know.
         -

Plans to start setting up on Friday at noon, she will be there
Friday morning to set up lyst field and pavilions, gate opens
at 5 pm on
         Friday.
         -

Friday evening, Travelers Fare being provided by DFT
         -

We need gate people for 7 – 9 shift and two people for 9:00
shift. No training required. Contact HL Caitrina (the gate
coordinator)
         -

We need help with entourage too. See lady Aaliz if you have time
         -

The Coronation Autocrats (Baroness Cassandra and Master Sebastian)
were requested to give an update:
      -

Baroness Cassandra was in attendance and reminded everyone that
the location is Jellystone Park in Burlseon and the event is April 9
th, doors open at 8 am.
         -

Need help with set up and clean up
         -

Clean up is tentatively scheduled for 6-7p, but could be delayed
by meetings. We technically have the site until midnight,
but we want main
clean-up done long before then. Of course, after clean-up,
socialization
         can continue.
         -

Gate Coordinator, M’Lady Joahnna, still has a few slots to fill.
         -

Servers for sideboard lunch at coronation are needed, contact Lady
         Eleanor if you can assist.
         -

Lady Aoife reminded everyone that the Boy Scout Jamboree is in November,
the Arlington Library demo is currently scheduled for the end of October---
and now the College is the beginning of October.
   -

Because of the intermittent nature of the Jamboree (every three
      years), this fall seems crowded.
      -

She has put in a request to the Library to see if they would be
amenable to having the 2016 demo in August or September.
      -

Next month (April) we open up bids for Baronial College and the Boy
      Scout Jamboree
      -

Also, a volunteer coordinator is needed for the Arlington library
demo. If you are interested but have never served as a coordinator you
could be partnered with an experienced person such as HL Al Aeryn who is
      very experienced.

*The Business Portion was Concluded.*

*Baron William offered Closing Words.*

   -

He requested Lady Aaliz du Lac from DFT to advertise and put in a plug
for the upcoming Queens Champion. She stated it was the second weekend of
May, it’s a camping event, will be at old Fort Parker historical site in
Groesbeck, TX ; web site is in progress.

   -

Baron William stated that he has been in the SCA for 25 years, has seen
everything but this Gulf War was a new one (microbursts, nearby tornado).
What we saw in the aftermath (offers of first aid, hot food, people
checking on others, etc.) is the finest of what the SCA has to offer.
   -

He reminded us of the full plate of events and stated that B&B progress
will be posted in the Tidings.

*The meeting was adjourned at 8:10pm*
