[Elfsea] Greetings

Happy New Year and Greetings to the Great Barony of Elfsea, and to all who
live within her borders.

I am Franklin Whitenhale of Cheshire and in a few short weeks I will have
the honor of serving as your new Seneschal.  First, I would like to tell
you about myself.  Then, I would like to talk a little about 2022.  Also, I
would like to start looking for someone to replace me in two years.

I was born in 1148 in my family home in Cheshire.  My great, great,
grandfather fought with William at the Battle of Hastings and I followed
King Richard to the Holy Lands. Today is January 1, 1222, the Eighth Day of
Christmas.  I am now a retired Trader serving my Barony and Kingdom. Yes I
am a Norman. I joined the SCA because of my love of history, role playing,
the principals it teaches us, and the people.  I have served as a
Hospitaler for the Canton of Dragonsfire Tor and as the Central Region
Hospitaler.  I was a seneschal for DFT twice.  I am currently Elfsea’s A&S
Champion because of my pickles. I have been the Autocrat of a number of
events for both DFT and Elfsea.  But my passion is cooking, I love to
cook.  I have also cooked or helped cook a number of SCA feasts and I would
like to do more.

2022 will be rich with opportunities as we come out of this pandemic and
return to a somewhat pre-pandemic normalcy. Working with our B&B, officers,
and Hospitaler, I am looking forward to the return to our meetings being
held in person. Maybe start with a Populous in the Park. We will need to
start looking for a new meeting location, any suggestions?  I look forward
this April to attending Elfsea’s first Defender in two years. This year we
will have opportunities to see growth in our membership.

As an officer of the Barony, I feel that it is very important to have
deputies to help carry out the duties of the offices.  I already have two
great deputies that will be assisting me throughout my term of office.  So,
what I really need is a deputy who would like to learn and be ready to be
our next Seneschal.  If this is something you might be interested in doing,
please contact me.

This is who I am, just a simple Norman wanting to serve our Barony and our
Kingdom.  I have yet to start my duties and I am already looking for a
replacement. I look forward to working with all of you to make Elfsea an
even better place to play.
