stuff and donated quite a few items to another small group that is collecting
and donating through the Salvation Army. We also gave money to the Salvation

does not mean they are not responding to other efforts. I applaud your
initiative and hope you indeed get a ground swell of donations moving to the
refugees from the storm. But please be careful not to chide the people who don't
respond to you. They may have given elsewhere. They may just barely getting by
themselves. There are many reasons why they might not respond to you.

<P>We donated 3 boxes of clothing, 2 blankets and 2 grocery bags of foord to the
American Red Cross directly. The American Red Cross was the agency who most
helped my father's recovery from the tornado which destoyed Moore, Oklahoma in
2001. I personally received meals from their "hot meal truck" while I shoveled
debris for 2 weeks.</P>
<P>Thank you, Colette, for your efforts.Your offer to coordinate the
giving was very generous. Please do not feel that your efforts were not
appreciated- just raising the idea of donating to this cause may have provided
the spark that folks needed to get their extra items to the donation bins.</P>
<P>Personal giving is a choice that has to be made by each family, according to
their ability to assist- and according to the particular needs of the agencies.
It's a tough time for folks- even those not hit by the hurricane may be
experiencing what they view as a disaster of economics. It is my view that this
personal decision should remain private. </P>
<P>I believe there will be much discussion of the management of this particular
relief effort in the news as efforts congeal. Perhaps the discussions will lead
to more coordination and faster response in the future.<BR></P>

I understand your frustration. I was born and raised in Florida so hurricane
problems are very personal to me. On Tuesday, we donated money to the
Salvation Army marked for relief from Katrina. I do not have clothes to donate
because I have just made a large donation to another charity. However, there
are many, many people who are collecting right now, so you should not feel
like the people of Elfsea are ignoring this problem because they have not
given anything to you. Some Elfsea people have no money so they are going to
Dallas to help sort donated stuff and help personally. Maybe, you should have
asked, “What are the people of Elfsea doing to help?” instead of assuming that
we are doing nothing. Some may prefer to help privately, and that is their

the lack of response I've received from a barony so reputed for it's

The only donations delivered to me were from non SCA'ers.... being my
children, grandmother, aunt, and a close neighborhood friend (<EM><I><FONT
face=Arial><SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial">whom is currently campaigning for
more goods from her church group</SPAN></FONT></I></EM>). They all know these
items are to initially be delivered to SCA evacuees who've taken refuge in
Louisiana & Mississippi... and still gave to our cause without
hesitation.</SPAN></FONT></P></DIV>

Ansteorra. I'm going to personally travel with the items into Louisiana &
Mississippi to the end-points to ensure their safe delivery... hopefully
providing additional protection for Sarah, who'll be driving most of the trip.
