I have had the priviledge to attend a class given by Ms Netherton at a Knowne World Heraldic and Scribal Symposium. She is exceptionally knowledgeable in her area of expertise. If you can get to one of her lectures, it is time well spent.<br>

researcher specializing in Western European dress of the Middle Ages. Since
1982, she has given lectures and workshops on medieval clothing for academic
audiences, historical societies, reenactment groups, and other organizations.
An experienced costumer as well as an academic researcher, she addresses both
the practical aspects of medieval clothing construction and the significance of
costume in history, art, and literature. Her lectures emphasize approaches for
researching medieval dress and ways to avoid common myths and mistakes. </span></font></p>

<p style=""><font face="Courier New" size="2"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Ms. Netherton is co-editor

Medieval Clothing and Textiles. As founders of the study group DISTAFF, she and
Dr. Owen-Crocker organize sessions on medieval dress and textiles each year at
the International Congresses on Medieval Studies held in America and England. Ms. Netherton's recent published papers have focused on the tippet (a
14th-century sleeve</span></font></p>
<p style=""><font face="Courier New" size="2"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">decoration) and the
development of the Norman hanging-cuff style; a paper on 14th century fashion
in Greenland is at press.</span></font></p>

<p style=""><font face="Courier New" size="2"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Ms. Netherton studied
journalism and medieval English literature at the University of Missouri and did graduate work in manuscript studies and book arts at Cornell University and the University of Iowa. To support her academic habit, she works as a freelance
