<P>A beautiful work of art, but there are two things... The very WIDE grain indicates that the layers he started with were the layers he finished with, the blade was NEVER folded. The power press is obviously a work saver, but he should have used a power hammer - the soft, gradual pressing would never impart the molecular alignment of the grain that hammering does. That he got the very good temper he had in the end is just an indication that he started with very good steel, instead of starting with something like iron sand and actually MAKING very good steel on the forge. If he had actually done the folding and hammering he would have developed even better steel than he started with. </P>
<P>But that may not have been his plan at all, it's just what I know about swordmaking - and like I said, it is still a very beautiful work of art shortcuts notwithstanding... <BR><BR></P>
