<div dir="ltr">Following up on HE Franklin's email that applications are now being accepted to serve as the next exchequer for Elfsea. If you have never served as an exchequer before I will be happy to discuss the office with you (there are also several other former exchequers in Elfsea who would too). Some basic information:<div><br></div><div>Yes you must be a paid member of the SCA and keep your membership current as long as you hold the office.</div><div><br></div><div>You are a member of the Finance Committee which reviews, among other things,  all bids for events, demos with expenses and unbudgeted expenses. <br></div><div><br></div><div>You are required to complete the financial report each month and submit it to the Central Region Exchequer. The report is in Excel format,and very easy to complete (a lot of it calculates automatically when you plug in the numbers each month).</div><div><br></div><div>You will need to complete an event report after every barony event and deposit the funds from gate within five business days. You will also be working closely with the autocrat to make sure checks are written for gate seed and other expenses related to the event.</div><div><br></div><div>The barony chamberlain is your deputy but you are ultimately responsible for the barony's assets in the storage unit and you must arrange for the annual inventory which has been happening in October. While we are searching for a less costly unit we have been paying them once a month.</div><div><br></div><div>Also at about the same time each year (September) you must contact all of the officers to prepare a draft budget for the following year which is then approved by the populace.</div><div><br></div><div>The barony financial policy is reviewed every other year.  Since we approved the current one last year, it does not have to be reviewed again until 2024.</div><div><br></div><div>Please contact me with any other questions you might have!</div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br clear="all"><div><br></div><span class="gmail_signature_prefix">-- </span><br><div dir="ltr" class="gmail_signature" data-smartmail="gmail_signature"><div dir="ltr"><div><div dir="ltr"><div><div dir="ltr"><div><div dir="ltr"><div><div dir="ltr"><div>In Service,<br></div><div><br></div><div>Eleanor of Forth Castle<br>Exchequer</div>
