I have both an ice cream scoop and ice chest. I will bring both, but may
not be able to stay very late. These can be returned to me at a later date
if needed.

Subject: GE - KWHS & Ice Cream Social Info
Greetings unto all from Stephen:
Here's the details on KWHS and the ice cream social on Saturday night:
1) I've been asked by a couple of folks whether this is a garb or mundane
event. Traditionally, KWHS is garb on Saturday, with it being optional on
Friday and Sunday due to personnel arriving and departing site so
frequently.
2) If you wish to bring your mug, goblet, or other drinking vessel that you
usually use at events, feel free - it helps add to the spirit of the event.
Feast gear, however, is NOT necessary! Rice is providing plates, utensils,
etc. for all.
3) In case word has not reached you, Her Majesty and Her Highness will be
attending KWHS after all, as will Her Highness Lyriel, Crown Princess of
Calontir.
4) Tomorrow night (Friday) there will be a social at the Valhalla pub on
campus. If any are interested, let me know and I'll forward the directions
and map URL to you.
5) Saturday evening, feast will run from around 7 to 8 pm, with the ice
cream social scheduled to start somewhere around 8:45 to 9 pm and run until
either people stop coming over or we wish to shut it down, somewhere around
11 pm to midnight. Our responsibilities for the ice cream social are (a)
purchase the ice cream, toppings, soft drinks (for floats), and other
miscellaneous sweetstuffs as we see fit (such as cookies, brownies, etc.)
and
store it at the site in their freezer; (b) provide ice chests to keep the
ice
cream cool while serving (it has been suggested that we purchase a large bag
or two of ice, as the feast may deplete what Rice has on hand in their ice
machine by the time the social rolls around); (c) provide disposable bowls,
spoons, napkins, cups (for floats, soft drinks, and water) and plates for
patrons' use; (d) serve the ice cream and other goodies to them whut wants
some; and (e) clean up once we are done - as this is mostly disposable
material, clean up should be quick and relatively painless. The KWHS staff
is taking care of decorations, etc., so all we need to do is set up, dish
out, and tear down our own stuff.
Everything is in the budget and will be purchased for the event with the
exception of the ice chests and the ice cream scoops themselves. We might
be
able to use serving utensils provided by Rice, but since that's uncertain
right now, bring a scoop if you have one just in case. I think we'll be
needing about 3-4 large ice chests to keep the ice cream cool on the serving
tables - again, this is a provision in case we can't use a chilled serving
table for some reason.
If you are planning on attending, please let me know either privately or by
replying on the list. Let me know if you can bring an ice chest and/or an
ice cream scoop as well. I appreciate the outpouring of people who are
willing to endure shopping with me at Sam's, and I'll be in touch with one
of
you later today to make arrangements for shopping and storage tomorrow
evening.
If anyone has any further questions, let me know and I'll try to answer them
or find you an answer.
Stephen
