This one is real because I got it last night.  It is the dickens to get rid
of.  We tried what Norton's website said to do and it didn't fully work.  My
computer guru husband figured out how to get rid of it.  So I hope this
saves some of you some time.  Norton found this virus last Wed. the 11th.

The virus is a Trojan Horse worm called W32.BadTrans.13312 at mm It has about
15 different files it can attach to an email... they are either in .pif or
.scr (screen saver) file format. For a  complete list of the file names go
to the Norton website.
  We used Norton to isolate the virus.
It made three new different files on my computer.

Even with Norton isolating the virus it does get it off your hard drive.
Norton says to restart your computer and delete the virus files.  But if you
are in Windows it won't let you do this.  What you have to do is start your
computer in DOS and delete the files from there.  THEN you are clean.

This virus will attack any unopened email that has not be opened five
minutes after you re-start your computer.  The way I caught it was from a
friend who had not opened an email that I send to a list.  It didn't send
the virus to the list, it sent it to me.  I just so happen to be the owner
of that list.  So I checked my email list logs and figured it out.  I opened
the email because I thought she was sending me a cute picture back.  The
header was RE: (list name)  subject we were discussing.

So be careful, don't open an attachment except if someone sends a message
prior to sending the attachment.
