Don't you mean, "Have you seen William's LACK of hair?"

"Have you seen William's hair?" might imply that he's lost it and you are
trying to help him find it.

Of course, we all know that he 'lost it' years ago, but we love him anyway.

One rumor we could start is that William has sworn off the booze forever and
is now using all his old bottles to build ships and tiny armies in.
