[Gatesedge] Zipcode and Tomball Area Hwy 249 News

This was passed around at work.  I thought it might be of interest to some
of the rest of you who frequently travel the Gates Edge Hwy 249 corridor.



  1.. Construction on 249 between Spring Cypress and Tomball is scheduled to
complete June 20th.. The North Lanes will open in about  two weeks and the
crossovers will then be completed and open by June 15, 2002. Delay was
caused by 1700 feet of pavement that was poured and then failed TXDOT specs
test. Had to be destroyed, removed and repoured.
  2.. There is a new SUPER Walmart to be constructed on the NW side of 249
and Spring Cypress (former Driving Range) - construction expected to begin
this summer.
  3.. Beginning July 1, 2002 - Tomball will have 2 ZIP Codes... 77375 will
remain the ZIP of all businesses and residences east of 249..77377 will be
the ZIP for all businesses and residences west of 249...
  4.. A new full service Harris County Tax office will open June 1, 2002 -
Market @ South Walnut (old Tomball fire station)...
  5.. Also June 1, 2002 traffic signals on FM 2920 from Cherry Street to
IH-45 will be coordinated into the TXDOT computer network for operation by
Houston District Traffic Control Center.
