Alas, I am one of those to whom the ultimate gift of giving blood is forever denied.  Many years ago, I took a blood medication for fast heartrate.  It was a "beta blocker" I believe.  Sometime after taking it, which I did for only 6 months, I tried to give blood.  In the interview process, the name of the product that I used was on their "forever forbidden" list.  Prior to that I was a pretty faithful blood donor.  It still bothers me that I am not able to do this.  Sigh.
