Greetings Glaslynders:

For all of those of you who are interested in the happenings at Steppes Artisan this weekend, I send this update:

Numerous AoA's were awarded to people from Steppes that I did not know.

Philip White was awarded an Iris of Merit - so that's Honorable Lord Philip now.

A lady from Bryn Gwald (whose name escapes me) won Artisan.

Apparently, each of the past Steppes Artisans are not allowed to compete again, but are judges for all future Steppes Artisan events. There were some 13 judges. After the winner was announced, each of the past artisans was allowed to give out a prize to their favorite artisan for "whatever reason" they wanted. Normally, the prize went to someone in their (the past Artisan's) area, or if they learned alot about a new medium.

The following people (that I know anyway) were awarded prizes as "Artisan's Favorites"

Lord Daniel Stewart who had a wonderful period chair. He also won the "Most Practical Item" category.

Lady Ameline DuBois who had, as usual, a marvelous display of handblown glass beads.

HL Darius of the Bells who, the judge said, made a wonderful chicken dish (I didn't get to try it - I made 5 passes by his station and still didn't get a sample...)

and (yours truly) me, Lady Lavina del Bakhous, for my first original scroll.

There were also 2 apprentices taken (both whose names I do not know). One of the new apprentices was the person who displayed those beautiful ceramic plates at Steppes Warlord. she was also given a thistle for her work in this area.

That's all I have to report from Steppes Artisan.

Remember the next upcoming 2 (A&S) events:

Loch Rudah's event this coming weekend (August 11-13) in Canton where they will choose, among other titles, their titled Artisan

and our Mini-Tournament on August 19.

We still need a person who is willing to be the lunchocrat. HL Airaklee has volunteered to run troll and be the prize coordinator. Please contact him for any prizes you wish to donate or if you wish to work troll.

See everyone this Thursday for Dance Practice and next Wednesday at populace.

Yours in Service,
Lady Lavina del Bakhous
Acting A&S Minister, Canton of Glaslyn
Apprentice to Mistress Stella Silvana
