The Barony of Loch Soilleir

Presents

Squire's and Cadets Invitational Tournament

December 1-3rd, 2000

To most of us the ideal of knighthood was sparked by heroes in our favorite
books read in childhood, from Scott's Ivanhoe to Dumas' D'Artagnan. There
is evidence that such an ideal existed even in the early part of the
medieval period, and is certainly a strong part of our Society today.
Squires and Cadets Invitational was a concept born of the desire so many of
us have to travel that path and strive to meet that ideal. The purpose is
to showcase those who are struggling to reach that level which says, not
that you have finished the journey, but that you know the direction to
travel. We hope that this Tournament will provide a place where those
farther along the path can stop looking ahead for the pitfalls in their own
way, and concentrate on looking back to those following behind. The
entrants to the Tourney should be mindful that they must display all of the
attributes and graces sought by those of their respective circles. To
merely fight well is not enough by half, and now is the time to prove that
you are more than a wielder of steel, but rather a person of depth.

This is a Tournament with a long history as a series of tests. Tests of
knowledge and skill, dexterity of limb and mind to challenge the entrant's
application to the ideal they seek to display. That is still the case,
however, this year the tests will be less obvious, blending in with the
background of the Tournaments and activities of the day. There will be two
chivalric and two rapier tournaments, along with opportunities to display
your bardic abilities and skill in the arts and sciences, all of which will
be judged as part of the quest for the championship. Also, the Barony of
Loch Soilleir will be choosing its Archery and Equestrian champions.

The site will be the MacHac Catfish Farm located at 24A Blumberg, Hempstead,
TX. Site opens at 4:00pm on Friday and closes at 12:00pm on Sunday.
