I thought I would share this with everyone - I know it's
not exactly related to the middle ages, but I thought it
was interesting.

The Rare Book Room at UNT currently has an exhibit "To
The Ends of the Earth: Explorers and Their Journeys".
There is a vast collection of maps, a display
of instruments used in early explorations and books
written by the explorers themselves.

There are things dating from 1550 to around 1865 and a
few objects dating to the early 1920's. However, most
of the display is centered around explorations in the
early to mid-1800's. The display is NOT limited to
explorations in the U.S., but explorations all over the
world.

This is a great exhibit for those interested in maps,
map making and early explorations.

This exhibit is here until July 1. The Rare Book Room
is located on the 4th floor of the Willis Library
(that's the Main Library) and is open Monday - Friday
8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and is closed weekends - AND IT'S
FREE!

....now back to your regularly scheduled list serve.
