Heidi...
As a member of the Order of the Bards Laureate, and the former Masque Laureate of Trimaris... I can say that it is EASY to start a Performance Troupe IF ya have willing people... SOunds to me like you have willing people... Ya just have to get them in the same place at the same time... SO drag them to an SCA meeting, then drag them to an event...
This performance troupe thing is something I would be interested in also... and would be willing to help get it going.

Recruiting Ideas:
I've been at UNT for the last three years, and there are college students that I know personally who are interested in the SCA. Since I became a member, I've done networking and I've found alot of people are intersted in the fighting, but I think we need to go beyond that.
Most people I've met are intersted in the arts, like costuming, music or of a bardic interest. I think if we do a demo we should show them all there is to see, through pitures, stories, and work.
UNT is huge art, music and theater school, maybe we should go in a different direction an on campus demo. (Unless you're already doing that, forget what I've just said, because as a newbe I've never attended a demo)
Theater Students:
I know that Ansteorra does not have any theatrical groups around the Steppes area. I know about ten people who would be intersted in the SCA if they had the chance to do performances in the kingdom. How hard would it be to start an acting troop?
