Indeed, the fabric was woven. There is an extant piece pictured in the _Velvet_
book. This doesn't change the fact that the fabric *was* embellished with
couched cording. Two different sizes, one quite wide and clearly a twisted cord,
the other quite small. This cording is particularly noticable on the up and down
edges of the sleeves. And clearly not a part of the brocade itself.
