HNW - Name that technique!

Dear List:

Can anyone help? I was atmy favorite antiques mall yesterday, and was
examing various older table linens, needlework. etc. One which puzzled me
was a background of filet crochet which was then darned with reprise
stitch. What a strange meshing (pun intended) of lacis and filet crochet!
