Just a note about beeswax that I learned recently while taking a gold-
work class. The beeswax will give strength to your stitching, it
hardens after about 2 weeks. The historical tidbit is that goldwork
from 1600's survives when later goldwork didn't. One of the differences
was the use of beeswax. It helped to prevent the thread from being cut
by the rough edges of the metal and the harden beeswax added stability.
The later pieces didn't use the beeswax and didn't survive.
Clothes that get washed in hot water are a bit different ;-)
