If you're looking for decorative needlework, like embroidery, Fenton House,
in Hampstead, is well worth a visit. It's a National Trust property a few
minutes' walk from the the Hampstead tube station. This early in the
season, it's only open a couple of afternoons a week (Sundays, and I think,
Wednesdays) so make sure you go the right day. Wonderful Jacobean house,
lovely gardens, in addition to needlework collection (mostly 17 - 18c) and
musical instruments.
