After doing a bit more searching, I can tell you that long stitch is considered a needlepoint stitch, not an embroidery stitch, and it is done on needlepoint canvas. It is absolutely up-and-down with no slanted or diagonal stitching. So far all I have been able to locate are kits, but I continue the hunt. Thanks for all of your suggestions so far. Nancy
