The Edwardian Needle in New Jersey carries 55 count linen. They have a web 
presence but no online store. However, the ladies who own/run the shop are 
extremely nice and would probably mail order for you. They also carry silk gauze in 
a variety of thread counts for finer work. 

Also, Zwigert's brand linen comes in 40 count, some embroidery shops carry it.
