Someday I would like to reproduce the long legged cross stitch pillow in 
the V&A (shown in Embroidery in England), changing the colors slightly to 
ones that are still appropriate to 16th c. England but which I like better.

The stitches don't just go in one direction, but are sometimes horizontal, 
sometimes vertical.  There is also a German piece that is done in the same 
manner.
