I use old prescription containers to store beads, needles, and small
buttons after washing them and removing the lables, of course. Even
though they are amber-brown, they are relatively transparent, seal with a
twist and can be made child-proof if there are babies/toddlers around.
In my city, they are non-recyclable, so this is a nice way to re-use them.
Another suggestion is baby food jars. My grandfather stored nils, tacks,
etc in them.
