<<Say what? Sprang that late?>> Sprang was used in the 18c - George Washington's military sash (as well as a lot of other officers') was made with sprang. Sprang was also used a lot in the 19c. You see it frequently in the tops of stockings purses, with the bottoms made by crochet or knitting. Deborah
