there's also the museum of london, national portrait gallery, and the  tate.
and if you'd like a day out of london, the museum of costume in bath is  
worth the trip, and not too far on the train
also, if you're going to the v&a and want to se something specific, you  can 
get in touch with them to arrange a look at the reserve collection -  likewise 
at the museum of costume (some places charge a small fee for this, but  I 
forget which).
