< I'm recreating a buff coat circa 1635 Can anyone tell me how to approach
sewing the seams? The garment I'm copying is pictured in: Men's Costume
1580-1750, London Museum, plate 5 I'm going to contact the museum but
suspect they will be too slow responding help.>
Even without going to my bookshelf for my copy of the book, I remember the
pattern.
Are you recreating it in a leather or suede as per original? That's going to
be tricky unless you have leather sewing tools. Just one more problelm of
us, in the present, trying to recreate items that were often made by
specialists. Not that it keeps us from trying....
Anyway, using a basic leather sewer's seam probably would work -- maybe
your public library has books on sewing leather? Or there's somethign free
on the Web? I'm sure there are English Civil War websites on the web.
Good luck!
