Yule is intended to be a newbie-friendly/mundane-friendly event.  
NO-ONE should feel they have to spend a lot of money right before Christmas on a 
period costume unless they so choose.  
Don't feel limited to only period clothing, but by all means if you have a 
Masquerade Ball costume that is period, feel more than free to show it off!
