Aquamanile - ( Latin: Handwasher) - A water pitcher of brinze, gold, silver
or Dinanderie for ceremonial handwashing. Usually whimsically or
allegorically shaped as a lion, griffin, horse and rider, or woman riding
the back of a man. Water for the handwashing was usually rose or lavender or
other aromatics added to the water.
