Baron Thorland O'Shea (Don Shea) has been studying German long sword and
pole arm techniques of Christian Tobler and Johannes Lichtenaur and applying
them to SCA Chivalric combat.

 

He is going to be teaching an all day class on Saturday, December 15th in
Bryn Gwlad at the Bonnie Pharr tennis courts (our usual fighter practice
site).  The class will run from 8 am unitil 5 pm with a lunch break.  The
class will be a mix of lecture/demonstration, slow work and some sparring.

 

For full participation, you will need SCA legal armor, full gauntlets, a
NON-basket hilted longsword, a glaive and a spear.  Some loaner weapons will
be available.  If you have extra weapons or gauntlets, please bring them
out.

 

I would suggest bringing something to drink and a lunch.  There will be a
lunch break, but probably not long enough to leave and get lunch.

 

Everybody is invited.  I've played with this stuff a little bit with Shea
and there is some cool stuff here to be learned.
