Actually.. if you want to learn with Rosetta Stone.. you DON'T have to  
buy the whole thing at once.. if you go online at their site and look  
carefully, you can do it one block at a time and pay as you go. There  
are like 4 or 5 blocks.

And it wouldn't matter if you are learning modern German vs Period..  
because NO ONE TODAY SPEAKS IN PERIOD German LOL

I have an Irish personna but at some point want to learn to speak  
fluent Italian.. simply because I am half Italian half Irish. Gaelic  
is just really hard to learn. I plan to do Rosetta Stone but only when  
I do have the funds to do it, a block at a time. And once I do have  
it, I can let my kids and hubby (Coenred) use it if they want to learn  
it as well hehehehe.. so 5 of us can learn it for the price of one!!
