Don't forget about the demo today! We still need fighters to help out and artisans to do their thing.

It's going to be a beautiful afternoon! Bring the whole family and make a day of it.

In service,

Subject: [Bryn-gwlad] Wells Branch Demo this Sunday
Date: Mon, Sep 16, 2013 11:26 PM

We will be having a demo this Sunday for the Wells Branch MUD, in part to pay them back for the use of their wonderful site for our Dance and Scribal Guild meetings as well as for special projects such as the painting of the designs on our current baronial pavilion.

It will be this Sunday, from 10 am until 2 pm.

It is NOT located at the location where we normally hold dance practice and scribal guild.

It will be located on the baseball field, just to the right of the community center, at 2106 Klattenhoff Drive.

Please try to be there by 9:00am, so we have plenty of time to set up.

Currently I have information that these guilds will be participating:
Brewers Guild:
Making cheese. (Ummm. I have some good cheese that had beer in it.)

Clothiers Guild:
A display of some type.

Fiber Arts Guild:
There will be a small display with the steps that fiber takes to turn into cloth, and some embroidery as well. Also perhaps a loom that people can weave on, and some spindles and embroidery for people to try, too.

Leather Workers Guild:
They will have something. More details later.

Music Guild:
Mistress Amata and Doug will be there proving music for the dancers.

Scribal Arts Guild:
Two tables of scribal displays and maybe some demos of scribing or illumination.

Don Tivar has volunteered to have a static weapons display as well as to marshall on the fighting field.

I will have my New World/Old World Food Game. I encourage all SCA folks to come by, preferably during the lulls, and see how well you can do on it. Myfanwy was one of the best in the past. See if you can best her. It is pretty simple. All you have to do is sort 20 or so food items by whether they originated in the New or Old World. And I'll even make it easier, there will be an even number of items from each area.

Two years ago, we had these activities there. (Last year, we got rained out).

Old World/ New World contest
Scribal painting
Heraldic painting
Hit a Fighter
Sword in the stone story
Finger weaving
Photo op
Executioner
Dress up

I think a bit of dress-up might interest the kids. Maybe simple, like trying on veils or hats? Or maybe some outfits? I don't know if we have any children's loaner garb in the hospitalier's chest but would someone like to do this?

How about an elementary heraldic display, showing bends, charges, etc.

So if anyone would like to add a static display or show off doing some handiwork, please let me know.

If you would like to bring anything out for a static or working display, tables will be available.

We have plenty of plastic garage pavilions and tables, but folks need to remember to bring some chairs.

Please also bring your personal banners. I've noticed that lately, these have been used less and less, even at regular SCA events and I'd love to see them brought out again. They add a lot of color and "medieval feel". We will find a way to hang them, either from the pavilions or from poles, if we can use portable holes or stakes.

Wolf said that he would have the water bearer equipment there, but is there someone who would like to volunteer to oversee this, so he can supervise the rest of the event? Since the area is small, we don't need to walk the water around.

Does anyone know if there are restrictions on that site on using deeper stakes for pavilions or banner poles? Sir Connor and Kate have volunteered to bring their pavilion and I think it would be nice next to the tournament area.

Please feel free to offer other ideas or to volunteer.

Thanks,
Stefan

PS: I'm happy to see this barony coming together on this display, even at the last moment.
