[Hellsgate] Fight for the Feast

Since we have grown considerable since last year when this was first talked about and  voted on, maybe we should revisit why we decided to do the Tiny Tourney. Sir Gaston told Timur and I about a small group in another kingdom that needed help growing their fighter practice. They fought the same two or three fighter every week. So they decided to run a simple tournament, no prizes, no themes, just come fight and afterward pickup fights to help train their fighters. It did wonders for that group. So the populace voted to copy this and see if we could bring some help to our fighters.
So yes the Tiny Tourney is to help our local fighter, yes it will help recruitment because it looks really cool, but mainly to bring in different fighters. As A&S night fosters our A&S people, Tiny Tourney fosters our fighter. If we had archery active we would come up with something to give them the support they would need.
The Stronghold voted to have our social/fighter practice on a Thursday night because Sunday never grew our populace. When we moved from a Sunday to a Thursday within one year we went to maybe 5 people a social to 30 or more. For parents or people that work on Thursdays, second chance Saturday came available.
Stephan's idea about 'Fight for the Feast' is a good idea, although not in lieu of the Tiny Tourney.

The Point of the TT is to garner more practice for our fighters, however
once every three months is not going to bolster practice much. We can
not count on outside groups to bolster our weekly practice. We need more local fighters to bolster local practice. To do that we need to draw
attention to get as much reach as possible in order to put us in front of a large an audience as possible to recruit from.

If we can recruit we can bolster practice every week.So if we can get a bigger turnout on a weekend I don't see how that practice would be less effective than onThursday

Stephan

Greetings to the list,

Tomorrow is populace, and I know that our Baron and Baroness will be down to fill us in on the time line of events proceeding their stepping down. I too have a bit of business to put out and would like to take this moment to try and  get some of it out for consideration so it may take less time in the meeting.

A week or so ago I said I would like to Autocrat the next Tiny Tourney, here then is my thought.

I would Like to do it in lieu of the second Saturday practice in November. My reason is people are more apt to travel from greater distances on a weekend than on a weekday just having got off from work. The closest event that weekend is in Houston and we would be having the practice anyway.

I would like to call it "Fight for the Feast" the idea being the cost to enter the lyst, or to watch is either a non perishable food item, or any monetary donation. Harker Heights Food Care Center accepts both kinds of donations and prefers money as they have an agreement where they can buy food for 15-20 cents a pound. They should be willing to have someone on hand to collect all donations so that we don't have to count money or cans of food.

The City of Harker Heights may be willing to donate the use of either the pavilion or the Amphitheatre. We would need to fill out the normal registration and submit a written request for donation of the service and why we are asking for it for them to consider it.

If this is approved, I will put it out all over facebook  and on the mailing list for invites to attend.

I welcome any input and questions you may have.

YIS,
Stephan
