This is in reply to several postings so I will try to keep it short.

Re: importance of placing foreign AoA'a, foreign Grants, etc. on the
Ansteorran list. This list is linked to our kingdom web page, hence it
embarasses Ansteorra when it has too many errors. If it were a private
rule of thumb list, we could hash it out at leisure.
I seem to remember that the White Scarfs prefer to rank Dons from
out-kingdom among themselves by date of creation. Is this specified in
the White Scarf Treaty? If so it should be reflected in the OP.

Re: Lions. Per conversations with Lions this order was meant not to be
linked with rank and precedence. If the royal charter says so (and I
have no idea what the charter says) then it shouldn't be listed on an
order of precedence.

Re: Letters Patent. I have seen these given out for Dukes/Counts/etc.
and for Ladies/Lords of the Rose, never alone. If it is never given out
alone then it shouldn't have a place on the OP below what it is given
out with.

Re: Period Non-armigerous awards. There are examples of commoners
being elevated over the heads of the gently-born in the judiciary
(justices of the Peace), Religious (Abbots and Mothers Superior),
Government (privy council) and military. Just as in the current middle
ages this was usually followed LATER by noble or gentle rank of some
sort. But sometimes not. The complaint about the Tudors was that they
put too many commoners over nobles, not that they put commoners over
nobles.
N.B. Actually noble rank didn't usually follow religious prestige
unless that time and place had married clery.
