As to using two colors in the livery charges you must remember there are only
one set of colors to use.

Get your crayola set of Classic colors out and use those for your color
references. There is no such thing as light green, forest green, sea green in
heraldry. There is green. Color  the two colors you want next to each other in
heavy  two inch wide by four inch long blocks stand across the room from it,
if you can tell where each color ends and the other begins then go for it.
Suggested do not use; red and purple or blue and purple since purple has both
of those colors in it, black and purple don't work real well either.
