The Society for Creative Anachronism -- 

The SCA is an international organization dedicated to researching and
pre-17th-century European history. The Houston group belongs to the Kingdom
Ansteorra, SCA members put on medieval clothing and
events, held almost every weekend of the year somewhere. Area Ansteorra
play a large part in the Renaissance Festival, held near Plantersville for
seven weekends
every October and November.

Yes, believe it or not, the Houston Chronicle today in the Technology
section of the paper has an article called  "Herald of tradition"  on page 2
section F.  The first thing you see on that page is the Ansteorran ATYC logo
and a short blurb about the SCA with a reference to the
web page.
