I don't think anything official has been announced at this time. It's a good idea to talk
about it and try to develop a plan though, because it seems likely to happen.

Consultation tables will only happen if there are people who care enough to bring out the
books and work them. Training will only happen if people care enough to offer classes or
mentoring. I'm willing to do both. I won't be at Crown this weekend, but if anyone needs a
consultation table covered for an hour or two, let me know and I'll try to work it into my
schedule.

The one advantage that I can see from this potentially is that only those folks who are
actually interested in heraldry will be involved. In other words, it won't be a warm body
holding the local office. I'd personally favor warranting locals for shires that wish to
maintain an officer in ordinary if they can pass the PE test.

The SCA is already full of people who are willing to study arcane and impractical fields, by
modern standards.

People need to see that heralds do something useful for the game. They need to be shown the
value of good armory and appropriate names. I'd like to get some weekend roadshows going to
local areas that need help. Blue jeans and t-shirts are fine for this kind of work, but the
important thing is to get out there and be active.

I thought that Countess Sarah did us a great favor with her first address in the Black Star
about always having planned to get a real name registered before Gunthar won the crown. We
should follow up on that and try to get other up and coming fighters and consorts to register
their arms.

Anyone else?
