I must agree with the hench-Erc. Practices in various kingdoms differ.

Atlantia: does not have awards per se that convey Grants. Occasional
naked Grants given: sometimes with a court barony (but not always),
sometimes without. "When a grant is given in and of itself it is
usually the royalty giving an extra pat on the head to someone when a
peerage is not appropriate and kingdom level orders are also not
appropriate." (Jaelle of Armida)

Middle: does not have awards that convey Grants. "Until recently
(last year or two) the Grant was given almost exclusively (and
somewhat automatically) to Kingdom level officers when they completed
the first 6 months of their tenure." (Vaernon Claye, Pursuivant of
the Shire of Steren Codha, tvmyers at iquest.net)

East: naked grants given rarely, "One was given at the recent
Coronation. Court Barons may be given a grant with the award (most
often it is done this way) ... Landed barons automatically receive a
grant upon investiture. It is true that the East has no orders that
convey a grant." (Kenrick, Brigantia Principal Herald, mperry at tp.net)

An Tir: five awards convey Grants, "Jambe [de Lion] (arts) Goutte [de
Sang] (service) Hasta Leonis (fighting) Grey Goose Shaft, and White
Scarf (top of the ladder for archery and rapier respectively...)";
never given naked. (Teceangl, tierna at agora.rdrop.com; Frederic
Badger, Black Stag Herald, badger at xcentric.net)

Drachenwald: "The Order of the Dragon's Steel which is a Grant-level
award for fencing." (Ivan Mikhailovich,
david.schmeck at ramstein.af.mil) Also bare grants are sometimes given
(Frithiof, sven.noren at KEMI.UU.SE).

"AEthelmearc has both bare GoAs and grant-level awards (the Gage for
fighting, the Millrind for service, and... err... the Order to be
Named Later for arts and sciences)." (Rhys, mikesmth at NCINTER.NET)

That's all that the SCA Heralds' list had.

Last I looked, Meridies had several grant-level awards, the Velvet Owl
among them. I know nothing further.

if that fail, my work addresses are tmcd at austin.ibm.com and tmcd at us.ibm.com.
tmcd at tmcd.austin.tx.us is a lie; tmcd at crl.com is old and will go away.
