ANSTHRLD - Schneckes

This was discussed at Sundered Shield last weekend. The
precedents have little to say about this German escargot.

"This question was raised as to whether a schnecke was a charge
or a field division. Just as you can have a field gyronny, while
a gyron is a charge, you can have a field divided schneckenweise,
or a schnecke as a charge. Therefore, this conflicts with Judith
the Rose Argent, a damask rose slipped and leaved proper., with
one CD for the addition of the schnecke. Note: while blazoned as
a damask rose proper, it is in fact gules, and has been reblazoned
as such on this month's letter of correction. (Jaelle of Armida,
LoAR October 1998, p. 16)"

"[Sable, a schnecke issuant from dexter chief Or] Conflict with
Damian Thorvaldsson, Sable, a gurges Or. There is clearly a CD
between a schnecke and a gurges, but the consensus of the commentary
and those attending the meeting that RfS X.2. does not apply
between them. (Da'ud ibn Auda, LoAR May 1996, p. 21)"

I checked the gurges and they are clear of this one.
So the schnecke can be a charge or a field division for the lady.
The Pic Dic says the point it issues from needs to be blazoned
but the direction of rotation does not. This is little help
in answering Daniel's rotation CD concerns.

"Azure, a schnecke issuant from a dexter base argent."

Peter Schneck January of 1997 (via Drachenwald):
Sable, a schnecke issuant from dexter chief argent.

I would agree with Teceangl since it appears to change to
appearance of the charge. The difference is blazonable
but only a Laurel ruling can settle the question
if it is worth a CD.

There would seem to be 2 choices:

First: Submit it as originally intended and fast track it to
Laurel for a ruling noting Peter Schneck's device. This
seems to be the only possible confict with it.

Second: Charge the schnecke with a tertiary to give the
second CD. A mullet or estoille would be simple unless
she wants to pick something more traditionally German.

That is all I can find.
