Wesaþ ge hal!

I was curious if anyone has specific sources for patronyms in Old
English. I am familiar with the "-ing", but I have seen various forms of
"X-es dohtor" or "X-es sunu". I was wondering when the shift was made. Was
it a result of the Dane Law? The only geneological texts I have seen are
Royal geneologies and those use the "-ing" element.
