Greetings, Ansteorran Heralds.

Some Southern Regional heralds had a shindig in Tempio, a local
pursuivants' warranting class. In an effort to develop more
commenters and more midrange heralds, a few Bryn Gwladers (Mari nic
Bryan, Gwenllian ferch Maredudd, me) are considering an all-day
lecture/workshop.

The current notions of a tentative schedule:
- How to Document a Name (Mari)
handout: "How to Document a Name (To Within an Inch of Its Life)",
by Tangwystyl verch Morgant Glasvryn, out of KWHS Proc.
- Blazoning (Daniel)
working with: Da'ud's computerized classes on blazoning
(get computers or printed copies). Prereq: knowing the basic
  tinctures and charges.
- lunch
- Checking armory conflicts (Gwenllian)
handout: "Conflict Checking Under the New Rules", Owen ap Morgan,
originally in KWHS Proc. but revised recently
- A live-fire commentary session
Break into 3 small groups, say, mixing experienced and inexperienced
heralds. Probably comment on an external letter from another
kingdom, because some are juicy targets with lots of opportunities
for comment, and any snarky comments won't matter to attendees.

If you aren't interested, there's no need to send me or us e-mail --
but of course, if you have some changes to suggest that WOULD make it
interesting and useful to you, please DO let me know!

If you are interested in attending, either as a novice, as a student
to brush up and get systematic, or as a more experienced herald to
assist or to take the classes home ("teach the teachers" -- hence
handouts), please e-mail me directly at tmcd at jump.net -- no need to
bother the list as a whole -- and I'll summarize the results for my
group and for the list.

Q1. What do you think your experience level is, roughly? Have you had
"intro to heraldry" classes or such -- do you know the difference
between "blazon" and "emblazon", and do you know the tinctures?
Have you done heraldic commentary before, either in a group or
    alone?

Q2. These are the dates we were considering, and events I noticed:
December 9 (up against Stargate Yule Revel)
        December 16 (Seawinds)
January 27 (Queen's Champion, location TBD)
        February 10 (Elfsea, Ravensfort)
Which dates would work best for you? Gwenllian has 5 weeks off around
Christmas, so if it's Jan-Feb she's willing to organize it and set it
up.

Q3. What locations would you be willing to go to?
    Bjornsborg (San Antonio)
    Bryn Gwlad (Austin)
    Tempio (Temple)
    Emerald Keep (Waco)
    Shadowlands (College Station)
Mari and Gwenllian are willing to drive 1 to 1.5 hours to do this,
because they want to day-trip it. They'd much prefer Austin, because
of convenience and because we have a decent site. In Austin, we could
arrange some crash space.

Again, please e-mail tmcd at jump.net if you're interested.
