Have you ever wished you could make an Order of Precedence for your local
Shire, Canton, Stronghold, College, or Barony; but were discouraged by how
much work it took to keep it up-to-date? It just got a lot easier.

Greetings, Heralds of Ansteorra and ye of the Herald's List.

This is a function to simplify and automate the generation of Local Branch OPs.

The problem, of course, is how do you discover and enter the name of
each group into each of the 4000+ names in the OP. I thought about
that for a week or two before I came up with a solution that did not
require that I, or anyone, do a lot of typing. In a nutshell, here's
how it works.

1) One person from each group downloads a list of all names in the OP.
2) That person deletes every name that IS NOT from his/her home group.
3) That person then adds the name of the group at the top of the file
and renames it.
4) That person emails the renamed file to me.
5) After a day or two, that person then downloads the current OP text
file and deletes all the groups except his or her own.

That's it.

On the OP web site, found at:
	http://www.ansteorra.org/regnum/heralds/op/
are instructions on how to do this, along with two files:
AllNames.txt and Branch_Ops.txt. These are ndicated by the icons
"How to Update", "All Names" and "Branch OP."

Be sure to read the instructions and follow them exactly. Since it is
an automated procedure, you must follow the instructions to the
letter or it won't work.

The amount of time you spend on this will run from 20 or 30 minutes
for a small group to 4 hours for a group the size of Stargate. But
once you have done it, you never have to do it again. Just add any
new people who join or move into your group. Then download the
awards file from time to time and delete all the groups but your own.

You can click on the Branch OP icon to see what the final results
look like. I entered 3 names from Namron and all of Wiesenfeuer to
test it before I released the first version. Lord Griffin ap Rhys,
our Asterisk Herald, was kind enough to process the huge number of
names from Stargate. Thank you, Lord Griffin.

The final file is a text file suitable for placing in a word
processor, spreadsheet, page layout program, or web layout program.
Let me know if you have any difficulties.
