So, you're saying I got a real deal with the copy I picked up for $10 at
Half Price Books a couple of weeks ago? I already had a new edition, but
for that price I couldn't pass up picking up an earlier edition.

Anyway, this source is good for background on particular families. Some
entries mention people in period. Some do not. The one thing to be aware
of is that, for the most part, MacLysaght uses modern, standardized
spellings (Same for his Surnames of Ireland book), both in the cases of
Anglicized and Irish Gaelic spellings. This will affect submitters who
have a desire for authenticity. There may well be small spelling changes
to change from an Irish Gaelic spelling that MacLysaght uses to, say, a
14th C spelling. There will almost certainly be spelling changes to get to
a pre-1200 spelling.

Oh, and when citing this source for documentation, please (unabashed
begging here) don't just say "MacLysaght". He wrote a bunch of books. The
one most commonly used for submissions is his Surnames of Ireland and
that's what most folks refer to when they say "MacLysaght". To refer to
this one, you will want to say something like "MacLysaght (Irish Families)"
or something similar.

Thanks!
