Greetings!

I would like to responded. First the list and then the other points:

> a) Is attending court to begin with
the Administrative handbook does say, for all courts attended....

> b) Has forms with them
As I am sure Zodiacus will confirm, they reports can be turned in on
anything. The do not need to be on "official" forms.

> c) Has a desire to spend court writting down every award
Not everyone does have the desire to do everything, how would you feel if
your award was not recorded? So why are you attending court anyway?

> d) If comfortable approaching their Majesties for a signature
I can understand the feeling but... This can be gotten past. If anyone
wants help getting past this let me know, I will do the intros or get the
reports signed for you

> e) Remembers to mail them in to Zodaicus
This is part of why we need to get as many as possible to fill out reports.
Not only do people not mail them in, including the herald that did court.
The Post Awful also eats mail sometimes.

> f) Can hear everything the herald says and translate it to correct names
Not everyone knows all the spellings. It is better to get a report of a
name that sounds something like the name announced then to miss the award
altogether.

A report that includes only the first initial of each name and which awards
were given is better much better than nothing and will NEVER do any harm.
Think of it this way. Sable Scroll created the charters and has a list of
all the names. That list can be checked for the spellings later. The
minimal report lets us know which awards where given.

You are correct. And not every herald got involved to do field heraldry, or
book heraldry. As for the court herald having the list of awards, see E)
above.

> Why is it that rather than imposing on the one person with the access

Because as you have stated, the reports are sporactic and the information is
vital. If reports don't get in, awards don't get recorded, people get
missed or get multiple instances of the same award. It is that important.

It is Star's responsiblity to see that awards are recorded. It is Star's
perogative to ammend the policies of the College. I would urge no changes
to the current policy.

As the policy stands the court herald should be turning in a report.

So what is the solution? How do we get the courts reported? Other than
stopping "lecturing" does the change really solve any problems or help get
awards recorded?
