Ibrahim al-Khatib looks OK on first glance. Now
that I actually feel well enough to get up and around I
will look at The Fihirst of al-Nadim and the other
Arabic sources and see what is said.
It looks like a given name and a descriptive.
al-Rashid 'the rightly guided' is another example
of such a byname.
Locatives are also formed that way as
al-Baghdadi - from Baghdad.
