[ANSTHRLD] Stooping Precedence (NOT!)

(All humor intended, but without rancor....)

Precedence is the order something is placed in a ranking.
Precedents are what Laurel writes on case-by-case decisions.

They aren't the same.  :)

Nor are:
Discreet (out of sight) and
Discrete (seperated).

Nor:
Populace (the public) and
Populous (heavily populated).

Nor:
Gentle (soft-mannered or a good person by address) and
Gentile (a non-Jew).

Nor:
Martial (combat-related),
Marshal (the guy authorizing fighters),
Marshall (to gather your forces) and
Marital (relating to marriage).

I'm creating a list of semi-homophones which are often mistaken for one
another in the SCA.  If you have something I've missed, I'd be delighted
to hear from you.
