MacEwan seems to be a post-period spelling in 1684 saith Black.  There
are spellings close to it: McEwin in 1581, Mackewin 1603, McKewyne
1546.  Black, s.n. MacEwan, page 491.  If you need all the various
spellings and dates, let me know.
