And then one would have to prove that such things went onto inn
signs in period. The `inn sign dodge' is the #1 reason that
implausible household names go boing; people figure that anything
and everything "could have been on an inn sign", but it really
couldn't, and a little research into real period inn names
proves that.
A bloodstone on a sign is a rock. Especially with the paints of
the era.
