<Madyn>, s.n. Madog, Morgan, T.J., & Morgan, Prys. Welsh Surnames
University of Wales Press, 1994, ISBN 0-7083-0936-4, pages 156-158. It is
considered that <Madyn> is a pet form of <Madog>. The only date I could
conjure was a <dros dir madyn tusw.> found in "An Anglesey Crown rental of
the sixteenth century". Also <jevan ap madyn possibly in 1326 which is
found on page 157, second column (1326 could also be part of the source for
this entry).

S.n. <Cadell>, Morgan, T.J., & Morgan, Prys. Welsh Surnames University of
Wales Press, 1994, ISBN 0-7083-0936-4, pages 61-62. "<Cadell> is a name
borne by kings and chieftains in the early period,". It lists <Cadel Grely>
in 1292. "It is given in MacLysaght, Guide to Irish Ss..In co. Galway since
the 13th century'. The meaning of (W) is that the Gaelic form so marked is
that given in Woulfe and that no other authority has been found to confirm
it. The name fell into disuse in Wales and it would be difficult to show
that the occasional examples found in the border counties could be traced
back directly to an origin in Wales, for the might have moved indirectly
through Ireland." Unfortunately there is no approximate century when it
fell into disuse.

FWIW according to the 12/5/2002 Pelican's Language Weirdness Table Welsh and
Gaelic are not registerable. An Anglicized Irish and Welsh name has not
been ruled on. This might have changed since the 12/2002 version of the
table.
